have a looksie.

the site indie fixx is a one-stop shop for spiffy designs and most things crafty.

they have this free art project called 'feed your soul'...where you can download and print off some pretty cute stuff.

here are a few of my favorites.

atomic starburst.

the crafty peoples over at threadbanger just uploaded this super cute tutorial on how to make a 50's style starburst mirror...

i created this one a few months ago...
it's not as festive as the threadbanger one, but it works.

i used a similar method, by starting off with the cardboard circle...but instead of using dowels or skewers, i used pages from a magazine.

just tear out a colorful page from a magazine, start rolling it like sushi (really skinny sushi) and lay down glue from your glue stick every couple of inches as you roll.

the process is really easy and adds a lot to your lame walls.

let them eat cake.

went to melrose on 8th last night for hadley's birthday...
...of all people to be there, kirsten dunst was.

drinking cheap beer in a room full of smoke.
super random.

i must say, i was a little starstruck.
probably because i just watched 'marie antionette' like a week ago.

just added three new sets of stache brothers to my etsy shop.

the olden days.

the photograph at the top of my blog is my favorite one of my grandmother.
perhaps my favorite photo of all time.
she is the lady in the center, between the pins.
her name was violet.

she is the one who taught me to crochet and instilled in me a lot of my creative passion.
i love her for that, and i wish she was still around to see how much i've grown, creatively and emotionally.

a few weeks ago i went through a box of old family pictures in my parents garage.

i found some really amazing photos and i'd like to share some of my discoveries.

23.

today was my 23rd birthday.
it was quite simple and very nice.

it started off by painting pottery with hadley and sara.
sara and her power-dragon.
i heart cupcakes.
hads and her tasty olive plate.

...after pottery, dinner with the family and playing with my silly nephew braxton...
...he got me flowers!

a good start to 23. indeed.

x's and o's to you.

my first sale.

i made my first etsy sale tonight!

this little guy is now on his way to a new home in california, to shield an ipod from this crazy world and all that can harm it. except fire.
i am super excited!

it took me a while to get up the initiative to start my shop.
now that i've sold my first item, i feel so proud.
like i just sent my first-born child to college or something : )

good night.

scarves and such.

i just posted my scarves and scarfettes into my etsy shop.
now i have all of my current inventory posted.
i'm quite proud.

i still haven't made that first sale, but i also haven't really started to promote.

although...my stache brother plaques made it onto etsy's "geek chic" gift guide! you can check it out here.

i was pretty stoked when i went to the homepage of etsy and there was a picture of my plaques at the top under the gift guides link. pretty cool if i do say so myself.

in other news, my new sewing machine just arrived at my parents house.
my mom wants to wrap it up and keep it until my birthday, but i don't think i can wait 9 more days to use it. i want it now.

have a lazy sunday.

sew stoked.

i'm super excited. why?
i just ordered my new sewing machine!

it's a janome sew precise and it's perfect.

ain't it purty?

it's an early birthday present from my parents and i can't wait 'til it arrives.
i'm so grateful and anxious to use it.

**in other news, i've been working on photographing my etsy items.
i should have them posted in the shop by sunday...so take a looksie in a couple days.

...and in the spirit of the fourth, i saw this fantastic PBR poker set on etsy:
it makes me wish i knew how to play poker : )

don't be trashy.

recently i have been trying to do my small part in eliminating waste.

i reuse old coffee canisters to hold craft supplies.
i cut up old clothes into strips and crochet them into things.
i bring a reusable bag to the grocery so i won't come home with a dozen plastic bags.

last year i saw this awesome tutorial from etsy on how to turn plastic bags into a fabric that is sew-able.

check it out:

pretty cool eh?

a few months ago i created this apron using old bags, quilt binding, and buttons of course!

it's stylish, durable AND waterproof : )

i also crocheted this little purse from kroger bags:
if you use beige colored bags, the end result kind of resembles straw...

get creative with your trash.
if not for the planet, do it for your wallet.

xoxo.
